Description:
BakerHostetler has an opening in the Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation group in Columbus, OH, which has a Band 1 ranking in Ohio from Chambers and Partners. This opportunity is for a mid-to-senior level Employee Benefits Associate or Employee Benefits Counsel with extensive experience in employee benefits and executive compensation law. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in all aspects of employee benefits, including experience in providing employee benefits diligence and benefits transition support in mergers and acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise on employee benefits matters, including qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and executive compensation.
Lead due diligence and transition matters for employee benefits in mergers and acquisitions.
Assist clients with legal compliance issued under ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, the Affordable Care Act, and other federal and state laws and regulations.
Draft and negotiate benefits-related agreements and documents, including plan documents, service provider agreements, employee communications, and other materials.
Collaborate with legal, human resources and finance teams on benefits administration, as well as fiduciary and legal compliance issues.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) with active bar membership.
At least 3 years of experience in employee benefits and executive compensation law
Strong knowledge of ERISA and related laws.
Excellent oral and written communication and negotiation skills.
