Private Client and Tax Division
The international wealth planning practice group acts for individuals and families, advising on a variety of tax and succession planning needs. We have a deep understanding of and broad experience in advising on such issues, including assisting in the creation of wills and establishing trusts and other wealth holding structures to manage, protect and transfer wealth, as well as residency relocation planning, an increasingly important issue for wealthy international families in today's global economy. We aim to help individual family members, and the family as a whole, navigate and plan for complex taxation issues to mitigate tax exposure and benefit from planning opportunities to consolidate and grow their wealth.
The focus of this role will be advising high net worth individuals, family businesses and family offices on fiduciary structures, tax, governance, and succession matters.
The Role:
This role will sit in our New York office.
- Responsibility will include full range of drafting complex trusts and wills.
- Knowledge of income and transfer tax rules affecting non-U.S. residents with U.S. income and/or assets, and U.S. residents with foreign income and/or assets.
- Knowledge of rules applicable to income taxation of complex non-U.S. trusts and their beneficiaries.
- Knowledge of pre-immigration and expatriation planning.
- Previous experience drafting, explaining, recommending, and finalizing sophisticated wealth planning strategies and documents.
- Knowledge of U.S. estate and gift tax and grantor trust rules.
- The role will also involve contributing to the team's profile and undertaking business development activities to establish, develop, and maintain long-term relationships; including, writing articles/posts, attending events/conferences and building networks with private wealth contacts/intermediaries including offshore and peer firms and counsel.

Key Skills and Experience
- Strong academic credentials (J.D. required; LL.M. is a plus);
- Minimum 2 years of experience practicing in a law firm's Trusts & Estates and/or Private Client group;
- New York Bar membership required;
- Strong drafting, writing, research and communication skills;
- Exposure to both domestic and international experience;
- Exposure to sophisticated wealth planning structures for international families;
- Strong project management with an ability to balance a large number of competing priorities; and
- Attention to detail and a team player.
- Compensation commensurate with experience ranging from $180,000 to $220,000
