Responsibilities and practice:
Dentons US LLP is seeking an associate with 5-7 years of real estate or transactional experience to join our Chambers “Band 1” nationally top ranked and internationally recognized Hospitality and Leisure practice in either our Phoenix or Washington DC office.

Recognized by our clients as the gold standard in the industry and better than every other hotel team in the market, the practice comprises a core team of internationally respected lawyers focused exclusively on providing world-class expertise to their hospitality clients. With complementary cross-disciplinary support from Dentons lawyers around the world, we work hand in hand with some of the industry's most respected owners, investors, developers, operators and financial institutions, on sophisticated hotel and mixed-use transactions to ensure every aspect of every deal is addressed accordingly. Our clients are distinguished and unique – they expect best in class service at every level to address their legal needs and we deliver. Expected responsibilities will include:
  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating letters of intent, purchase and sale agreements, hotel management, license and franchise agreements, joint ventures and other related documents
  • Hotel financing, including negotiation of loan documents and related deliverables
  • Handling deal closings
  • Performing due diligence and other aspects of transactional work as required

Candidates should have excellent academic credentials and proven analytic ability. Hospitality industry experience is a plus. Expected responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

Pursuant to DC laws, the salary range for this position is $325,000 to $420,000 based on experience. Dentons associates may have a title of Associate, Managing Associate, or Senior Managing Associate. Dentons US LLP offers a competitive salary and benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k, short-term/long-term disability, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, paid holidays and discretionary bonuses.

Personal skills/attributes:
  • Possesses outstanding oral communication, organizational and written communication skills
  • Has strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Has the ability to manage competing demands efficiently and effectively
  • Embraces teamwork, values collaboration and works effectively with others
  • Is conscientious with a proven attention to detail

Technical skills:
  • 5-7 years of legal experience in real estate/transactional and the hospitality industry
  • Previous law firm experience required
  • Large and sophisticated deal and transaction experience is preferred

Other Requirements:
Must be licensed to practice law and be in good standing in the state where the hired candidate will be practicing. Washington DC candidates may be licensed in any US state or territory and eligible to waive into the Washington DC Bar pursuant to D.C. Court of Appeals Rule 49, and agree to apply for an Exception (8) admission immediately upon accepting an offer of employment
