Ropes & Gray is seeking a career associate, with a minimum of 2 years of applicable legal experience, to join our nationally recognized Liability Risk Management practice group, with a focus on insurance matters. Attorneys provide legal advice to clients on a broad spectrum of insurance and liability risk management issues, include risk assessment, mitigation strategies and compliance with relevant law and regulations. The Attorney will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement effective insurance strategies as well as conduct legal research and analysis.

The attorney in this position can be in either our Boston or New York office.

Duties/Responsibilities:
The attorney in this position will be expected to:
  • Support our growing Liability Risk Management practice, by focusing on matters involving complex commercial insurance coverage.
  • Draft and negotiate policy wording for financial lines and other types of insurance policies, as well as claim advocacy correspondence.
  • Advise clients and internal transactional teams on insurance-related issues in connection with restructuring, litigation, and M&A matters.
  • Conduct legal research on liability risk management issues and provide timely and accurate legal analysis.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations related to liability risk management and update policies and procedures accordingly.

Required Education/Skills:
Candidates with proven experience in commercial insurance, will be preferred. Having experience in litigation or M&A, will be beneficial. Candidates should have an intellectual curiosity to learn and expand beyond basic legal concepts in this specialty area, be capable of managing time-sensitive projects efficiently and possess sound judgment. Attention to details, self-motivation and possessing a team-oriented spirit, will be essential for success in our fast-paced and dynamic culture.

Candidates applying for this position will be required to have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction you are applying.
